reunited and it feels so good

Yesterday we drove down the road from the FOCUC Centre to the St. Francis Spiritual Centre (also less reverently known as "Little Sisters'") to reunite with the rest of the team. Candice (thank God) was also one of the first to be there (though, unlike my five-minute car ride, she had to take an overnight matatu). I thundered  frolicked down the halls, screaming her name and disrupting all the nuns.

Ah, the sweet taste of reunion. As the team filtered in throughout the day, you take note of 1. how dark people may or may not have gotten, 2. how much weight people gained (from triple helpings of potatoes) or lost (from trekking around) and 3. how scruffy the guys get from lack of shaving (of course, others of us are also hairy from lack of shaving, only in other places...).

Everyone's usually worn and matted down with sweat from traveling for hours (save for us who had a five-minute car ride...okay, I have to stop being so smug about that but last year I was a rumply crumply mess after a seven-hour bus ride and a stressful taxi incident) but there's always That Sense. That Things Have Happened and That God Has Done A Good Work.

The above pictures were taken today when some Kenyan GP student alumna stopped by. These two ladies are Charity and Silvia and they were the Kenyan students on the team last year. That's the beauty of returning--knowing you come back, welcomed by friends--and there's That Sense. That Things Have Happened and That God Has Done A Good Work. Whether it's three weeks or a year or whatever other time has passed, He is always busy helping us become ourselves.
