nashville, part iii

Those are some of my favorite pictures from the trip. Including the whole series of us walking with our popsicles is a bit unnecessary, I concede, but they make me smile. I have a penchant for candid photos, except most people end up looking horrific in them, so what I do is tell them I'm going to take a "candid" shot of them, and to compose their face accordingly. There. That is my secret. Now you may ponder how candid these shots really are. But judging by some of our facial expressions...well, that should give you a hint.

We went to The Cracker Barrel one day, which is full of...country-ish trinkets and trifles. I bought a weird princess sticker book for Chenz there, and a __________ for Josie (it's still a surprise, so let's not spoil it for him)! Then we went to Opryland, which is this...really odd place. It's a hotel and convention center, and from the outside it looks like...a bland edifice in the middle of nowhere, but once you walk inside it's a bit like Disneyland, with lights and waterfalls and walkways and streetlamps and weird tropical creatures with capes hanging in midair. Bizarre. Still, I'm a sucker for pretty lights so I was content enough.

Then Myron and I headed back to California, the only visible sign of our trip being the bag of Chick-Fil-A goods Myron brought with us from Nashville. A week ago I was eating my first dinner in Nashville, and now I am packing to go back to Berkeley for school. I'm sort of petrified. But in any case, those days in Nashville were happy ones. The past semester was sort of...dark and awful...rough on the soul. Spending time in Nashville with old and new friends was soothing for my soul. A gift from God, you know? And perhaps if it didn't mean so much to me, I could explicate myself more.
