skipping class is good for the soul

Give me some Bi-Rite, strolls in the Mission, and toss in a couple of lovely friends and I'm...good. Really good.

The original intent for a jaunt over the Bay to SF was to meet Alexa Chung at Madewell, where she was to promote her latest design collection for them. But as Sarah and I were en route, we were struck with the thought--do we really want to meet Alexa Chung? do we really need to meet her? The answers were no and no. We'd rather just dance around the Mission than stand in line waiting for an albeit very sartorially charming young woman we've never met ("What would I even say to her?" Sarah asked dubiously). In fact, we'd much rather spend time with our soon-to-be-doctor friend, Steph.

So we said to no to Alexa Chung. She'll never know what she missed. (And neither shall we--because I'm still unnecessarily curious as to what the limited edition gift they were doling out was).

And you know...it was the right choice. We found parking the very moment we turned onto 18th Street (aka the residence of Bi-Rite), immediately pounced on Bi-Rite (we really did...I didn't even have time for photos) and Tartine, and found a new brand of journals we fell in love with at Currents.

We caught up with Steph after she got out of class (when we finally spotted her getting off MUNI she had her nose buried in her notes. So studious! She's going to be a great doctor. I'm so excited). My clothes stink of Yamo, but we made friends with the old ladies there (well, they made fun of my Chinese mostly), and I bought nectarines for much cheaper than what darn old Safeway sells them for. Did I mention that we also snagged another parking spot after our time for our first one was up? Divine Providence.

The night ended with driving up and around the SF neighborhoods, drinking almond milk tea from TeaWay, andexploring Steph's new place (an annoyingly cute and quaint apartment in the Sunset...her roommate also has a cat).

I think my soul really needed that kind of nourishment.
