I met and talked to a man named John this morning during our morning quiet times. He asked me how long I've been in Kenya, and if I'm working or a student. I told him I just graduated and will need to look for a job (ugh) when I got back to the States. He asked what I want to do, and I answered, I want to write.
Here is the whole of what he said in response: "You will do what you want. God will give you a job. You will get married and have a family." He said it with such quiet certainty, but I couldn't help but laugh outright--not at him (hope he didn't think I was, at least...), but his surety. I've always had trouble with the idea of "a future and a hope" for myself, and believing in the possibility of it.
When I started laughing though, he regarded me seriously and said, "It is obvious you are blessed. It has been created for you."
He has more faith in God for my life than I have for myself. Let's hope he's a prophet.
