kenya listen to me talk?
Quite the sabbatical I've taken from blogging. For the scant few of you who actually care to read my spotty thoughts and errant ramblings, I apologize for the prolonged silence. The date is really August 21, but as I intend to begin to start blogging again, and want to do retrospective posts about this past summer in Kenya, I figured it'd be easier to just publish this as if it were June.
Everything from Kenya is scattered about in my mind, but I learned from my re-entry into America last year that if I don't talk about it all that I'll go insane (I really will). I understand and process experiences primarily through thinking/thoughts, and feel no qualms about externalizing those thoughts. The drawback to this is that I don't always process the emotions attached to those same experiences, and feel even less of a compulsion to externalize them (though, of course, thoughts and feelings blend together--and aren't even mutually exclusive to begin with--and processing or externalizing one will invariably mean the other is also communicated). In any case, last year after I came back from Kenya, I found it hard to share with people, and those unprocessed emotional responses to experiences became manifested as bouts of depression and deep unhappiness that seemed to have no apparent cause. Basically what I'm saying is that I need to talk to/at someone/empty cyber space so I my thoughts/emotions don't go unattended. I'm trying to be healthy (emotionally, at least).
So if it so pleases you, you can listen/read on. All posts from June through the end of July are just going to be a random assortment of scraps of Kenya, most likely haphazardly assembled for my--if no one else's--enjoyment. And I've included a very nice picture of me roasting a goat in Kenya, just to entice you to read on...Meat! Polka dots! Knife! Journal! Shawled Denise!...at least one of the above must be making you want to hear more...
